I have studied Nutrition and Graduated in 2008 with a 4.0 GPA in a Nutrition, Diet & Health Science Program, Customizing Theraputic Nutrition. I earned my Certification in Herbalism, Specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Therapy, Graduated in 2014. My passion for helping humanity and bridging our community members with resources and services they need to lead a healthy and productive life. I am a doctoral student studying criminal justice and criminology. I have earned my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a dual concentration in community and forensic psychology. I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist in the state of Connecticut. I have extensive experience and training in culturally affirming therapeutic practices working with diverse populations from various backgrounds with different psychological and emotional concerns.
She brings her passion for natural health and holistic wellness to the center. With a deep understanding of the connection between mind, body, and spirit, Mellessia will assist the team to deliver exceptional services to clients.
I entered this field with the hope of aiding individuals who may find it challenging or uncomfortable to seek assistance due to the cultural stigma surrounding mental health. My goal is to create a supportive environment where those under my care can process their feelings and emotions, experience acknowledgment and validation, and be their genuine selves without the fear of judgment.
In my practice, I have adapted therapeutic techniques to cater specifically to individuals diagnosed with autism and cognitive impairment. Additionally, I extend my services to children, families, couples, and adults. Specialized areas include grief therapy and trauma-focused interventions, utilizing various techniques such as play therapy, journaling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness exercises, among others.

Dr. Lord is a board-certified naturopathic doctor, author, pastor and C.E.O of Mother Earth Juice Bar Café in Jamaica, Queens, NY. Dr. Lord is on a mission to help minorities and anyone with compromised health to live better quality and healthier lives as we overcome health and wealth disparities.
Her tonics, teas, herbal remedies, healthy foods, juices, books and nutrition workshops help people stay healthy and also develop the faith and discipline needed to heal and restore good health, finances and live healthy, abundant lives. Dr. Lord recently worked with the Oprah Winfrey Network to screen the Color of Care documentary in her hometown community of Queens, NY. In addition, Dr Lord has worked with Taraji Henson’s foundation teaching health workshop to seniors in her Southeast Queens community. Her community service, journalistic and media career has allowed her to work with President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and interview many powerful leaders, CEOs, Pulitzer Prize winners, artists, literary geniuses, and transformational speakers. She is the recipient of many awards for community service and holds honorary doctorate degrees in Humanities & Ministry. She graduated from Brooklyn College and received her Doctorate of Naturopathy at Trinity School of Natural Health, Warsaw, Indiana.
Dr. Lord is the president and founder of the Southeast Queens Chamber of Commerce, an organization on a mission for the development and beautification of SE Queens. The SEQCOC has conducted hundreds of workshops, building health and wealth in the community of SEQ.
Dr Lord enjoys filming documentaries and making herbal remedies. Her first documentary is about health and wellness.
